PICTURES: Black day in Nsukka; How Dangote's truck driver killed a secondary school student

It was February 13th, the students of Shalom Academy Nsukka, Enugu State were on excursion to the Aquatic Centre in Markurdi, Benue State. They left in three buses filled to capacity with students and staff.

On getting to Otukpo, a town just before Markurdi, a truck owned by Dangote Group of Companies was trying to overtake another truck when it veered off its own lane to the students' lane and collided with one of the school buses slashing the bus into two.

Surprisingly, the truck driver fled the scene with his truck without assisting in saving lives or surrendering himself to the police.

Unfortunately a female student named Akachukwu Opam lost her life instantly. She was in SS2. Four other students also sustained critical injuries and are still hospitalized.  Akachukwu was buried on February 16th amidst tears.
