 I'm just so excited to see a positive movie about Africa besides the usual war and hunger movies. 

Queen of Katwe will open in U.S. theaters on September 23, 2016. 

Produced by Disney, it is the true story of Phiona Mutesi, a world chess campion from Uganda. 

It's the story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess. 


As a result of the support she receives from her family and community, she is instilled with the confidence and determination to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.  

The film features Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo, Oscar winner and Tony Award nominee Lupita Nyong'o and many others.
