VIDEO, PICTURES: 17 Yeas Later, Ogbomosho - Oyo Road Still Uncompleted Despite N47.5 Billion Contract

Below are pictures and video of Ogbomosho-Oyo road, which is very dilapidated. This road has been under construction since Obasanjo's regime. In 1994, the Ibadan-Ilorin road was awarded to AIC Limited for
N4.6 billion. Later it was awarded in three segments to different companies:
- Ibadan–Oyo, 45 kilometers, awarded to PW Construction Company for N15 billion.
- Oyo-Ogbomoso, 45 kilometers, awarded jointly to PW and Reynolds Construction Company, RCC, Limited, for N15.2 billion.
- Ogbomoso–Ilorin, also 45 Kilometers, awarded to RCC in 2001 for N15.7 billion.

After two years, PW and RCC asked for 37 per cent variation in cost, but the government agreed to only 15 per cent variation. PW and RCC rejected the offer, and the contract was cancelled. But six months later, the Oyo-Ogbomoso section was awarded to RCC alone for N47.5 billion.  A British firm of quantity surveyors confirmed that the middle section of the road was inflated by N32.5 billion. It’s been 17 years, the road is still not completed.
