President Yoweri Museveni has said that Ugandans should not deceive themselves by thinking he is their servant, but that he is a freedom fighter fighting for himself.
He was speaking during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) 31st anniversary held at Boma grounds in Masindi on Thursday.
He said: "I hear some people saying that I am their servant. I'm not a servant of anybody. I am a freedom fighter. That's what I do. I don't do it because I am your servant. I am not your servant.
"I am just a freedom fighter. I am fighting for myself, for my beliefs," Museveni was heard saying in a video posted by NTV Kenya.
"I am not an employee, If anybody thinks he gave me a job, he is deceiving himself. I am just a freedom fighter who you thought could help you also," Museveni said.
Museveni won a fifth term in controversial elections in February 2016.
And they will always clap and cheer
