Yahya Jammeh of Gambia finally agrees to step down for President Adama Barrow

Gambia’s new President, Adama Barrow, has announced that defiant Yahya Jammeh has agreed to finally step down.


President Yahya Jammeh had rejected the election result for weeks.

Barrow took to Twitter and wrote: “I would like to inform you that Yahya Jammeh has agreed to step down. He is scheduled to depart Gambia today. #NewGambia”

  2. If you are Adama Barrow, would you serve under the prevailing circumstances created by Jammeh? Jammeh could be dangerous if allowed to remain in The Gambia. Jammeh would pose a big threat to peace if allowed to remain in The Gambia.

    So, to ensure the safety President Barrow and peace in The Gambia, Jammeh must leave Gambia and that's the right thing to do. Period.
