Coup scare: Customs discover another container-load of arms in Lagos port

The Nigerian Customs says it has discovered another container-load of arms at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.

It was discovered at the Ports and Cargo Terminal of the Tin Can Island Ports.

The terminal where the container was found has been shut down.

The quantity of the arms intercepted was not revealed.

Recall that in January 2017, the Nigerian Customs Service seized 661 pump action rifles imported into the country illegally from China.

Army chief Buratai had in a tense language last week warned officers and soldiers to steer clear of politics, as information had reached him that some officers were involved in political meetings for “undisclosed reasons.”

Buratai advised officers and soldiers interested in politicking to resign from the service, as any officer caught would be severely penalized.
