PHOTOS: Nigerian youths protest at National Assembly, demand passage of bill to allow them run for president
Protesters on Tuesday marched to the National Assembly in Abuja to urge lawmakers to vote to reduce the age limit to run for president from 40 to 35.
Similarly, they also want the age qualification for being elected into the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly changed from 30 to 25 years.
The protesters were armed with placards and banners with inscriptions like: "If I can vote at 18, I should be eligible to run for office", “make history by voting ‘Not Too Young To Run Bill’, “Nigerian youths demand inclusion in governance.”
The protesters shut the main entrance of the National Assembly complex, forcing legislators and staff to use alternative entrances.
