President Buhari under fire for appointing 3 dead people, naming himself Chairman of NASENI


President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack from Nigerians for appointing three dead people in his largest appointments since he assumed office in 2015.

Buhari on Friday approved the constitution of the Governing Boards of Agencies and Parastatals, under some Ministries to fill the Board positions, numbering 209 Chairmen and 1258 members.

President Buhari, who is already Nigeria’s minister of petroleum, also appointed himself Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

Among the list of 209 Chairmen was late Senator Francis Okpozo who according to the list, will be the Chairman of the Nigerian Press Council.

The Second Republic Senator died in Benin City, the Edo State capital after a brief illness on December 26th 2016 at the age of 81years.

The President had released a statement on December 28, 2016 mourning the deceased Senator. 

The Senator was buried on February 17th this year.

Also on the list is late retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and elder statesman, Donald Ugbaja.

The late Ugbaja was appointed member of Consumer Protection Council. His name is the third on the list of the council whose chairman is Emeka Nwakpa.

Also, the President appointed Rev Christopher Utov as a Member of Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research.

Rev Utov, the proprietor of Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko, passed away on March 17, 2017.
